Miguel Palma

Lisbon,1964. Lives and works in Santarém.

Miguel Palma is an artist who appropriates the narratives of a modernity in permanent questioning to better reflect on the present. The fascination of Miguel Palma for the icons of classical modernity is evident: the world of aviation, the automobile, architecture, nature (more or less domesticated) and technology in general. The curiosity and the way he articulates different horizons of knowledge, underline the capacity to reinvent ourselves, disguising an inexorable greater law, which is the victory of time over the human finitude. As devices that enhance a critical look at our recent past and our present, Miguel Palma’s statements confront us with the tensions experienced in the fragile balance of our existence.

As the Artist directly tells us « If the world was comfortable, I wouldn’t make art.»
With a career spanning more than three decades, his works cover different media, such as sculpture, video, installation, drawing and performance.
