However, as it is built, the city \u00a0itself gains autonomy and power, to the point where \u00a0it starts altering and changing Men\u2019s habits and behaviour \u00a0altogether. Whereas the architecture lasts and stays intact, Men \u00a0is a mere transitory and short-lived creature \u2013 his absence contributes \u00a0to intensify the city\u2019s own presence. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In these artworks one can easily \u00a0recognize what is being depicted. In fact, if the artist had any intention \u00a0at all it would be of uniting and combining the real and metaphysical world. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The banality reveals mystery, calm, silence and void underneath the sunlight. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Juan \u00a0Escauriaza <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Juan Escauriaza was born in Madrid in 1961. He has a PhD in Geological Sciences \u00a0and a postgraduate degree in Hydro-Geology and Paleontology. Though he worked for ten years as \u00a0a geologist with several important companies in Spain, his true passion was always for art and in \u00a01994 he dedicated himself solely to painting. Since then, he has had over sixteen solo exhibitions, numerous \u00a0group shows and a major retrospective sponsored by the City Hall of Madrid. His extraordinary critical and commercial success makes it even harder to believe that Escauriaza is an entirely self-taught artist. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though he still resides in Spain, \u00a0Escauriaza\u2019s work is focused on the American landscape. He visits the US frequently and studies his surroundings, sizing up his chosen milieu for subject matter. Inevitably, he is drawn to those elements of the landscape that many of us might pass by without \u00a0registering a second glance.
